After completing his masters in the fall of 1978, Slack joined the Airline High School coaching staff. He was named Head Football Coach in 1984 and his squad finished 1-9. But, just two years later, Slack's was District Champion with a 9-1 record. Slack was voted City, Area, and District Coach of the Year for 1986. Testimony
My parents raised me attending church regularly. When I was 9, I realized I was a sinner and that Jesus had died for me. I asked Him into my heart as Lord and Savior. When I was 13 years old, a man spoke to a group I was in at church and he gave us all a Bible. He made one comment that has always stuck with me. He said, "Never put anything on your Bible." At that time all that mean was to not put anyghing on the top of my Bible. As I grew older I realized that the man meant to keep God 1st in my life; to keep Him "on top" of everything. There have been times in my life that I have messed up. When this happens, I am reminded of these words, "Never put anything on your Bible." I evaluate where I am in the Lord. I want to be in His will for my life in all phases of my life. God loves you and wants to be 1st, on top, in your life. Our sin separates us from God. (Romans 3:10) But, God loves us so much that He gave His son Jesus to die for us. (Romans 5:8) If you confess that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. (Romans 10:9-10) God wants to have a personal relationship with you. If you don't know Him, won't you put Him "on top" in your life today.
