Frequently Asked Questions

Do I have to be a good golfer?

No, but you need to be able to swing a club.  This is the one event that combines the areas best golfers and the area’s best hackers!

What is in it for me?

Besides the fun of playing two rounds of golf on a great private course, you will be a part of seeing the youth of our city impacted for Christ.  You will have the opportunity to spend time with some amazing like minded men from around our city.   Also, you will receive a FCA Tee gift and an incredible sit down lunch at the Eastridge dining room.

What’s in it for the students?

As a result of your help, the kids will experience a week of inspiration and perspiration at FCA Summer Leadership Camp (many who can’t afford it will attend on Scholarship), enjoy an FCA Huddle Group at their school with fellowship, Bible study and prayer, and be able to attend special area events like the FCA Founders Banquet, Fields of Faith, College Athlete Retreat, Weekend of Champions, Game Day Rallies, and Independence Bowl Breakfast.  Hopefully, over 15,000 kids will be touched through your involvement and investment this year!  That’s just for starters!

What is the best way to raise the most money?

Although raising $2,400 can sound like a daunting task, be assured that it can be done.  Last year we had several golfers raise more than $3,000 and one golfer even raised $4,500.  This isn’t that difficult.  To raise $2,400, you would have to get 24 people to match your $100 donation.  Donations can be from friends, family, your church, your work, etc.  See the “Potential Sponsors” and the “Top 50” lists in the  Binder to help you plan your attack.  You can start with looking at those on your Christmas mailing list. You will be amazed to see how God shows up and how many people want to be a part of such an amazing event.

A great way to start the process is by attacking your email address book.  A quick email to your personal contacts is very effective.  Use the Pledge Letter when you are asking for pledges by mail or in person.  Follow up your letter with a phone call or personal visit about a week after you send the letter.  The sponsors can mail their donation to our office or they can make their donation online at www.nwlafca.org/GolfMarathon.lsp, but ask them to at least contact you with their donation so you can track your progress to help meet your goal.  When you are talking to potential sponsors, remember to mention why we are raising the money - to help influence and impact the lives of young people in our area for Christ!  Potential sponsors do not have to be familiar with the FCA ministry.  However, they need to know that you are committed to helping make a difference in the lives of young people.  Your excitement can and will be contagious!
